Lighting up the Valley Showground

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has announced $360,000 to upgrade flood lighting at the Kangaroo Valley Showground.

The funds come from the NSW Government Strong Country Communities Fund and will provide new lighting for Osborne Park at the Showground.

“As a Shoalhaven City Councillor, I worked hard to secure new toilet facilities for the Showground. Over the years as your State MP, I’ve assisted with many grants for the precinct and I’ve proudly supported the wonderful work of the Kangaroo Valley Show Society.

“So many volunteer and sporting groups use the Showground and investments like this one make the ground much more accessible. From the annual A&H Show through to training and sporting games.

“Grants of this size are well outside the resources of local user groups, and it would take a long time before council was in a position to fund this infrastructure. That’s why I’m pleased to work hard and get results that matter.

“As your local MP, I know locals don’t care much for more ‘talk’, but are focused on outcomes. I will always work hard and do my best to get things done for Kangaroo Valley”, Mr Ward said.

Mr Harold Sharman, President of the Kangaroo Valley Agricultural and Horticultural Association, said that he welcomed the funding.

“We are very grateful to our local MP Gareth Ward for securing this $360,000 funding to upgrade the flood lighting at the Showground. The Kangaroo Valley A & H Association is well supported by the local community, as well as our many long-standing patrons, patronesses, sponsors and life members.”

“The 136th annual Kangaroo Valley Show (‘The Friendly Show’) will make a triumphant return on 17 and 18 February 2023 and we look forward to hosting a great event for the local community and visitors”, Mr Sharman said.
