Lions recently had their changeover meal at Jing Jo’s. As usual the catering was magnificent. The club also took this as an opportunity to present awards to some of the members:

Marjorie Wilkie received a Certificate of Appreciation and David Loncasty was announced the Lion of the Year.

Jill Turnbull and Gayle Harvey were both recognised for their long running service to Lions with President’s appreciation awards.

Relative new member Kirsty Hambrook was given the perpetual Service Shield for her work in establishing the Kangaroo Valley Youth Group.  The Youth Group is truly making a difference.  Thank You Kirsty.

And at the end of the awards two members, Joan Bray and Tracey Basman, were recognised for their individual efforts towards the community by becoming recipients of the Melvin Jones Award. Joan has been involved in Anzac Day for a long time now and each year continues to make it a rich event on the Valley calendar.  Tracey has taken the reigns at the Medical Centre and has worked with the smooth transition to the new doctor.  The Melvin Jones award is one from Lions Clubs International which recognises outstanding individuals by bestowing on them an award that is named after the founder of the organisation.

To all of your local Lions, thank you.
