The Preschool garden has been in dire need of some TLC and renovation, so we have been busy with several projects to accomplish this.

Our first project was to replace our ageing plant pots. Thank you to all those who have donated pots, potting mix and nursery vouchers – our plants look so much healthier!

After the pots it was time to restore other parts of the garden.

We would like to thank the father of our Aboriginal Resource teacher, Rhe Lotter, who offered us some horticultural advice for planting a native garden with plants significant to First Australians.

Plants were sourced, then the garden bed was thoroughly weeded. Stepping stones were put in place, with lots of help and advice from the children, then the plants were settled into their new home.

Acacia Longifolia /Soap bush was planted near the outside tap; when it gets bigger the leaves can be used as soap.

Prosanthera Minty and Leptospermum Petersonii produce a marvellous fragrance as we brush past them.

The children love walking along the stepping stones through the new garden.

We would like to thank the Hindman family for donating rocks to make an edging for the garden, and Brad Hawthorne for installing it. (The children were keen supervisors of this project.)

We would also like to thank Bunnings for their support. Activities Organiser Penny Williams visited the preschool, bringing potting mix, gardening gloves, aprons and plants. The children had a wonderful time potting up their own plant to take home and care for. The extra herbs and potting mix have been used in plantings around the base of the trees in our playground – fabulous!

The Mother’s Day Raffle has been drawn and the lucky winners are Peter Wesley-Smith, Tracey Styles, Intan Kallus, Tilly Gray, David McIntosh, Julie McIntosh, Robin Moffat, Matilda James and Daisy Macindoe.

Congratulations. The Raffle raised $400 for the preschool.

Thank you everyone for your support.
