Two positions vacant
Brush-tailed Rock-wallabies were once common throughout Eastern Australia. Now they are endangered. The Friends of the Brush-tailed Rock-wallaby are working to help pull these iconic rock-wallabies back from the edge of extinction in the Shoalhaven, at the southern end of the species range in NSW. For over 20 years we have partnered with the National Parks and Wildlife Service and local landholders to protect and grow our local rock-wallaby population. We have a strong focus on gaining community support through ongoing community education about the species, its predators and the predator control (and other) works required to protect them.
The Friends are now looking for assistance in our works from people who care passionately about protecting our native wildlife and environment and about working with the community to achieve this.
- The Friends are also looking to find someone from this same regional area interested in taking on some temporary paid work (approximately one day per fortnight) in an Administration Officer role to assist us with some of the administrative tasks required to keep our group effective and successful in our endeavours.
- The Friends have received a Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal Grant to pay for up to $200 per week for 6-12 months to employ someone in the Kangaroo Valley, Shoalhaven or Southern Highlands areas to assist us in growing our group and activities. This could include connecting with landholders, social and other media opportunities, attending local events and grant reporting. There is the opportunity for job sharing if appropriate and flexible working arrangement as required.
