Preschool News

The children had so much fun at the Kangaroo Valley Show! We have made a book about all the exciting things they saw and did. The elephant ride, camel rides, the duck catching game and the ice creams were prominently mentioned. Thank you to the A&H Society for organising this event. It would have been the first time these little children have had the opportunity to experience the KV Show.

How can you say “Hello”? We have been learning that there are different languages used all around the world. The children have drawn pictures of people, then chosen a way for their person to say “Hello.” This has been added to a speech bubble. Our “Hello” gallery is beautiful.

The interest in ramps and moving objects continues here at the preschool. This month the children have been developing experiments in the water trough with balls and PVC pipes. How can we make the balls roll fast? What happens when we push the balls into an underwater pipe? Can we use a pipe to move water and balls from one place to another?

The children were interested in footprints, so another experiment was devised to make plaster casts of footprints. Jacinta’s dog Daisy allowed her foot to be pressed into some playdough, then the children helped make a cast of the print with Plaster of Paris. Then we made casts of the toy dinosaur’s footprints. We have all the footprints displayed in a special ‘museum’ glass case.

These children are curious and creative learners.
