Men’s bowls

At the risk of sounding more like a weather report than a bowls report, rain once again washed out a number of playing days in the past month. Nonetheless, social bowls were played whenever possible and Kangaroo Valley was well represented as usual.

16 March – Despite a slow start, Darryl Goodger and ‘Tige’ Lidbetter defeated ‘Jingles’ Chittick and Bert Madge. Ron Nelson and Rob Reid came from behind to defeat Peter Haddon and Russell Tulloch on the last end. Barry Dunn, Graham Hook and Col Good had a strong start but were overtaken by consistent scoring from Keith Pepper, Bob Dunn and Bill Chittick.

23 March – Peter Haddon and Tige Lidbetter held on to defeat the fast-finishing Bill Chittick and Terry Hayes in a nail-biter. Ron Nelson and Jingles Chittick, with Lindsay McNamara as a swinging lead, took an early lead but were chased down by Derek Raymond and David Badger. Keith Pepper, Col Good and Rob Folkard had a convincing win over Rick Attard, Darryl Goodger and Steve Kellet.

26 March – Consistent bowling resulted in Bob Dunn and David Badger defeating Russel Tulloch and Terry Hayes.

2 April – In a see-sawing match, in which the lead changed numerous times, Derek Raymond, Jingles Chittick and Terry Hayes eventually defeated Steve Kellet, Lindsay McNamara and Tige  Lidbetter.

13 April – Peter Haddon and Lindsay McNamara defeated Darryl Goodger and Tige Lidbetter. Russell Tulloch and Terry Hayes were victorious over Jingles Chittick and David Badger. Ron Nelson and Bill Chittick played well to defeat John Moncaster and Col Good. Derek Raymond and Rob Folkard missed the start and only got worse, going down to the very convincing combination of Keith Pepper and Bob Dunn.

16 April – Jingles Chittick and Mark Power held on to narrowly defeat Russell Tulloch and Tige Lidbetter. Lindsay McNamara and Peter Grunfeld won a close match against Bob Dunn and David Badger. Rick Attard and Col Good were victorious over Derek Raymond and Steve Kellett.
