A Council asset for all to enjoy
The audio-visual equipment in the Kangaroo Valley Hall is available for all Hall hirers to use.
There are comprehensive instructions on how to use the equipment, and training is available for new users.
The equipment includes: projector, blu-ray disc player, sound system with speakers, subwoofer and amplifiers, screen located above the stage, and hearing augmentation devices.
These are linked to equipment located in the secure box next to the stage: microphone and connectors for laptops and sound – this equipment will be upgraded as soon as possible for maximum audio-visual potential.
Want to use this audio-visual equipment?
Films: it is important that you have the rights to play a film in a public environment, particularly if attendees are paying a fee to watch your film. Blu-ray or DVD is the preferred format.
Streaming: note that there is no wifi access at the Hall (yet!) so you will need a reliable internet source to stream from your laptop.
Laptops: HDMI connector is required. Note that Apple devices will need an adapter.
Sound: a headphone socket in your device is required.
Hearing augmentation: users can use their own headphones, or the headphones provided.

It took two years to obtain grant funding from the NSW Department of Planning & Environment through the Regional Cultural Fund.
Donations were received from private individuals wanting to support the community as well as our major local sponsor, the Valley Voice, and the Kangaroo Valley Environment Group, the Kangaroo Valley Community Association, the Kangaroo Valley Pioneer Settlement Reserve Trust, the Kangaroo Valley Historical Society and the Kangaroo Valley Chamber of Tourism and Commerce.
Council supported the works through removing asbestos and re-building the projection room. They also made changes to allow for the electrical needs of the project.
At the completion of the installation of the audio-visual equipment, ownership transferred to Council as an asset permanently located in the Hall.
A group was required to obtain the grant funding, so Valley Movies provided this service; however, the equipment does not belong to Valley Movies – it is available to all who hire the Hall.
How has the equipment been used to date?
Film screenings, memorial services, training sessions, zoom meetings, slideshows, advertising of arts events.
There are many options for how the equipment can be used, so consider using the equipment for your next event.
