Constitution, Principles and Activities
Our Purpose and Objectives, as stated in our constitution, are:
Purpose
The purpose of the Kangaroo Valley Community Association for Disaster Resilience (known as Resilient KV) is to assist the Kangaroo Valley community to be more aware of, better prepared for, and more resilient to bushfires and other natural disasters and emergencies, including, but not limited to floods, landslides, storms, extreme weather events and pandemics and their impacts on people, their animals, and the Valley’s flora and fauna.
Objectives
The objectives of the Kangaroo Valley Community Association for Disaster Resilience are to:
1. Raise awareness and generate discussion within the community concerning natural disasters and other emergencies that may impact people, and/or plant and/or animal communities within Kangaroo Valley.
2. Help the community to increase disaster resilience through activities including prevention, preparation, response and recovery.
3. Facilitate the implementation of local solutions that are tailored by and known to localities and neighbourhoods within Kangaroo Valley through local community-based disaster resilience initiatives.
4. Include First Nations local communities, knowledge and perspectives in protection and recovery planning including species and sites that are culturally important.
5. Engage with relevant government agencies and other entities and individuals in pursuing the objects above and in assisting in the improvement of relevant infrastructure and other activities that increase the community’s disaster resilience.
