{"id":2423,"date":"2023-05-31T10:18:01","date_gmt":"2023-05-31T10:18:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kangaroovalley.nsw.au\/valleyvoice\/?p=2423"},"modified":"2023-05-31T10:18:01","modified_gmt":"2023-05-31T10:18:01","slug":"preschool-news-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kangaroovalley.nsw.au\/valleyvoice\/2023\/05\/31\/preschool-news-12\/","title":{"rendered":"Preschool News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Preschool garden has been in dire need of some TLC and renovation, so we have been busy with several projects to accomplish this.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our first project was to replace our ageing plant pots. Thank you to all those who have donated pots, potting mix and nursery vouchers \u2013 our plants look so much healthier!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the pots it was time to restore other parts of the garden.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We would like to thank the father of our Aboriginal Resource teacher, Rhe Lotter, who offered us some horticultural advice for planting a native garden with plants significant to First Australians.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plants were sourced, then the garden bed was thoroughly weeded. Stepping stones were put in place, with lots of help and advice from the children, then the plants were settled into their new home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Acacia Longifolia \/Soap bush was planted near the outside tap; when it gets bigger the leaves can be used as soap.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prosanthera Minty and Leptospermum Petersonii produce a marvellous fragrance as we brush past them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The children love walking along the stepping stones through the new garden.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We would like to thank the Hindman family for donating rocks to make an edging for the garden, and Brad Hawthorne for installing it. (The children were keen supervisors of this project.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We would also like to thank Bunnings for their support. Activities Organiser Penny Williams visited the preschool, bringing potting mix, gardening gloves, aprons and plants. The children had a wonderful time potting up their own plant to take home and care for. The extra herbs and potting mix have been used in plantings around the base of the trees in our playground \u2013 fabulous!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Mother\u2019s Day Raffle has been drawn and the lucky winners are Peter Wesley-Smith, Tracey Styles, Intan Kallus, Tilly Gray, David McIntosh, Julie McIntosh, Robin Moffat, Matilda James and Daisy Macindoe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Congratulations.
