Given the heritage aspect of the bridge, consideration needs to be given to the materials and processes used to ensure the cleaning process does not cause damage to the sandstone. At this stage we do not have a timeframe for completion of the cleaning, however Transport anticipates it will be in the first half of this year, access and weather permitting. Please also be aware that cleaning of the towers of the bridge will require the bridge to be closed while cleaning is being carried out, however we will try to minimise disruption to the community as much as possible by scheduling these works at night. Transport will keep the community informed of any traffic changes.”

So by the time winter comes around, we should have a lovely honey-coloured sandstone bridge that gives the impression that is it being looked after because we love it (and we do!).

We also approached Transport for NSW about enhanced lighting for the bridge but there are currently no plans for that other than the recently repaired spotlights.
