{"id":1377,"date":"2022-09-28T21:25:17","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T21:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kangaroovalley.nsw.au\/valleyvoice\/?p=1377"},"modified":"2022-09-28T21:25:17","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T21:25:17","slug":"recovering-the-rock-wallaby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kangaroovalley.nsw.au\/valleyvoice\/2022\/09\/28\/recovering-the-rock-wallaby\/","title":{"rendered":"Recovering the Rock-Wallaby"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kangaroo Valley\u2019s endangered rock-wallabies are on the road to recovery, thanks to a new Recovery Strategy recently launched by the Valley\u2019s conservation charity, the Friends of the Brush-Tailed Rock-Wallaby.<\/p>\n<p>The three-phase strategy aims to build a thriving meta population of rock-wallabies across the Shoalhaven so that the Kangaroo Valley rock-wallabies are no longer isolated\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Phase One focuses on <em>Saving the Species, <\/em>safeguarding the current rock-wallaby colonies through predator control, monitoring and captive release.<\/li>\n<li>Phase Two is about <em>Researching Possibility, <\/em>identifying hidden populations of rock-wallabies and mapping potential new habitats.<\/li>\n<li>Phase Three will be <em>Rebuild Populations, <\/em>potentially establishing a string of interconnected new rock-wallaby colonies across the Valley and beyond.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Friends of the Brush-Tailed Rock Wallaby are hoping that more KV locals who care about wildlife will join their Education &amp; Community Awareness Team and get involved with the recovery effort.<\/p>\n<p><em>To find out more about the Friends of the Brush-Tailed Rock-Wallaby, follow us on Facebook or visit <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rockwallaby.org.au\">www.rockwallaby.org.au<\/a><em> .<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Help the KV Rock-Wallabies!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our endangered rock-wallabies need all the help they can get.<\/p>\n<p>Join our Community Awareness Team.
