{"id":1306,"date":"2022-08-30T02:05:45","date_gmt":"2022-08-30T02:05:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kangaroovalley.nsw.au\/valleyvoice\/?p=1306"},"modified":"2022-08-30T02:57:48","modified_gmt":"2022-08-30T02:57:48","slug":"pig-day-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kangaroovalley.nsw.au\/valleyvoice\/2022\/08\/30\/pig-day-out\/","title":{"rendered":"Pig Racing at the KV BBQ Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Off and racing\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pig Day Out is back on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">September in the Beer Garden of The Friendly Inn, along with the Kangaroo Valley Craft Beer &amp; BBQ Festival.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So if you are BOARed, need to SOW some wild oats, or SQUEAL your lungs out and want to HOG the limelight, get on down to the centre of the village and join the crowd at a PORKER of an event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Everyone is welcome \u2013 the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stout-bodied, short-legged, thick skinned, partially coated, even those with short bristles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pigs are known for their wonderful sense of direction, and now they get the chance to prove it. Over two fun-filled days, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Noah\u2019s<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thoroughbred\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Racing Pigs <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be put through their paces, and you can take a chance on having yourself a share of the winning pig.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Funds raised will be donated to the Melanoma Institute Australia and the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, along with the Bomaderry Junior <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Australian Football Club and the Kangaroo Valley Show, which will both be corralling the eager participants and audience alike.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prior to each race, an auction will be held and you can bid on your pick of the winning pig. A raffle is also held for each race, so everyone has a chance to be a winner. It\u2019s wired for success!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hooch<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Gold)<\/span><b>:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Introducing the triple threat pork chop, he is hunky, he is horny, he is \u201cHooch the Pig\u201d!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Poaka Still<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Dark Blue)<\/span><b>:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> First Kiwi to run, be a bit tougher than the rugby, but \u201cStill Building\u201d up. Great to have the local Kiwi\u2019s support. Can he swing from a web? No he can\u2019t cause he\u2019s a pig. Have you heard about the pig in the brick house? This is where the brick and tiles come from; knows about the sand and soil as well! Comes from solid foundations. Hard to beat!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pace Family Turkey Farm <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Silver):<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Had a busy Christmas in July but it knows all about monogastrics and manure; looking forward to seeing it run. Also, from a hardworking European background and great family, but sire is a bit rough around the edges. The Sea Eagle could be a distraction. Should set the pace!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jumping Jelly Beans <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Gold): This one is for the kids! Trains with the ducks, goats and chooks, a striking juvenile; put it in your black book.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KV Red Angus<\/span><\/i> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Red)<\/span><b>: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Closely related to the black stable, but a far superior breed. Excellent muscle pattern, fat cover and temperament. Sensational taste! Put Red Angus on the shopping list. Worth a bid!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Barrengarry Baron <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Purple): Another Kiwi that likes a \u201cmuddy\u201d track!
