After a stellar return last year after COVID, planning is well underway for Kangaroo Valley Folk Festival 2023. It’s all happening on the weekend of 20-22 October and earlybird tickets are on sale now at www.kangaroovalleyfolkfestival.com.au.
Performers
Check our website for a complete list of performers, including:
Austral – a high-energy, four-piece Australian tunes band combining didgeridoo, Irish pipes, high energy fiddling, journeying songs and energetic foot percussion.
Tuck Shop Ladies – strapping on a pair of ukuleles, Australian folk music darlings Sam Lohs and Rosie Burgess pull back the curtain to share an intimate selection of their often ridiculous, but always harmonious songs.
From USA – festival favourite George Mann.
The Humbuckin’ Pickups – wielding guitars, dobros, banjos, double bass and mandolins, the quartet will draw you in with their love of storytelling through music, humour and four-part harmony.
Plus lots more, including local favourites Nick Rheinberger, The Saltwater Sound System and Casuarina Light Phenomenon with George Bishop.
Many indigenous acts are featured, including the Djaarmby Band, Glenn Skuthorpe and the Mudjingaal Yangamba Choir, singing in Dhurga and Dharawal languages
Plus, there’s all the usual poetry, dancing and workshops.
Volunteers wanted
A minimum of eight hours volunteer work entitles you to a free weekend pass. Some volunteer jobs: ticket office, check wristbands at venues, bar (RSA required), waste team, venue management, traffic control. Apply on line at our website.
Enquiries: volunteer@kangaroovalleyfolkfestival.com.au.
Billet a performer
In return for offering a bed and breakfast to one or more homeless performers, you will receive a free weekend ticket for your family. It’s a great chance to be involved with the festival and to get to know some of the performers. Accommodation is needed for the nights of Friday 20 and Saturday 21 October, with some possibly staying Sunday night as well.
