Sadly, Chris Willson lost his battle with melanoma and passed away on Monday 12 June 2023 at the age of 68. The service was well attended and held in the Kangaroo Valley Hall on Tuesday 27 June 2023. This was followed by a celebration of Chris’ life at the Kangaroo Valley Golf & Country Retreat.
Chris was born on 2 October 1954 in Nowra, where he grew up, went to school and started his working life. He spent the majority of his working life as a long-haul Flight Attendant with Qantas. We met in 1983 and Chris was my partner and best friend for the last 40 years.
We bought our Kangaroo Valley property in 2002, built a weekender in 2004 and did the weekend commute from Sydney for 10 years – just so we could see if this was the life we wanted. It was. Prestons commenced our current home in 2014 and we moved to the Valley full time in 2016. I used to describe it as the house we would die in. I just didn’t realise it would be this soon.
We love living here and the community has been very supportive. We have made some really great friends, to the point where some are like family (you know who you are). In the days since Chris’ passing, I have been surrounded by love and support which provides some level of comfort. For that, I thank you all. I will miss Chris every day for the rest of my life. Rest in peace my beautiful man.
