Save the Date!

One of our wonderful educators, Fiona Nelson, was presented with a special gift to commemorate over 10 years of service to Kangaroo Valley Preschool. Thank you for your expertise, enthusiasm, kindness and ‘Tetris’ skills!

We would like to thank Jo and Ken Novich for their generous donation of a sound system for the preschool. It will be fabulous for special events. The children have already given some amazing performances when we organised some ‘Kid’s Karaoke’.

The firewood raffle has been drawn and the lucky winner was Irene from the General Store. Congratulations Irene – hope it keeps you warm and cosy all winter. Thank you to Brad Hawthorne who organised the raffle. Thanks also to the Post Office, Bottle Shop and General store for selling the tickets. The raffle raised $355.

The next big fundraiser for the preschool will be a ‘Comedy Night’. Save the date – Saturday 12 August – for a night of laughter at the KV Hall. Professional comedians have been booked to bring some extra fun into our lives. Tickets are available on line – see our advertisement in this issue.

The preschool garden has turned into a jungle! Toy animals were hidden among the plants and keen-eyed preschoolers spotted all of them and marked them on their observation sheets.

The children have been getting creative with loose parts. We provided them with a range of pebbles, dried flowers and buttons. The children arranged them onto base boards, making marvellous designs, every design highlighting the individuality of the artist.

When the children were finished, we photographed their work, then the parts had to be sorted back into the containers for the next person to use. This experience was inspired by artist Ja Soon Kim, who photographs the beautiful designs she creates from collected objects.
