Upper River Hall is available for hire

After Covid and road closures, the Upper River Community Hall is available again for hire to local KV people.

We have recently been approved for access to the Hall as a “commercial activity” (like Yarrawa Estate on the weekends). Road access is assured.

Some needed repairs to the Hall have been completed, the kitchen has been upgraded and the bushfire retrofit project is beginning, which will culminate with a new paint job.

So the Hall is again accessible and will be looking its finest for hopefully many many happy occasions and events ahead.

As a local KV resident, you are welcome to book the Hall for your next major event – wedding, reception, birthday party, reunion, etc.

It is one of the few community-owned halls in the country. In its time, it has seen dances, plays, concerts, film screenings, experimental dance, weddings, dinners, meetings, mid-winter festivals, wakes and all manner of get-togethers. And so it will again.

The Hall main room is large (14x9m, 120m²). Risers and chairs can be installed to seat up to 100 people. Seated eating can be 120-130, theatre seating about 150. Dance space? Who knows how many.

The kitchen has been modestly upgraded, with kindly donated new refrigerator and new gas stove. There are male and female toilets and ramps into the building. Chairs, tables, crockery, cutlery and glasses are available, but most large events hire their own.

The Annexe (90m²) drips with shabby chic including hand-made lounges and comfy cushions. Perfect for rustic decorating and practically indestructible. Weddings have transformed it into fairyland with little more than lights (already hung, more can easily be added) and lots of greenery. And there are friendly outdoor spaces on three sides of the Hall.

If you are interested in learning more about hiring the Hall, please contact the booking team on upperriverhall@gmail.com. They will be happy to give you the rates (very reasonable for KV locals) and availability.
