Cheese & Wine Tasting at the Show

On a steamy Friday evening, 60 attendees enjoyed a sold-out Cheese & Wine Tasting Event as part of the Kangaroo Valley Show program, hosted by Valley Cheesemakers.

The evening was perfectly led by our Master of Ceremonies Simon Harrington, with lucky door prizes and trivia question prizes on offer for attendees.

Expert advice and personal knowledge of the cheeses was provided by Carole Willman, an Australian Cheese and Dairy expert. This was a fantastic effort for Carole, who had just completed six hours of open judging, and tasting, all 90 of the Cheese and Dairy Section products.

John and Linley Brumerskyj of Flavours Shoalhaven provided the six Australian cheeses: Meredith Dairy ‘Australian Native Pepperberry’; Flinders Estate ‘Triple Cream Brie’; Hunter Belle ‘Red Gouda’; Tilda Dairy ‘Three Vintage Cheddar’; Tilba Dairy ‘Super Blue’; and Binnorie Dairy ‘Duetto’.

Our wine guru Rohan Watson, the South Coast and Southern Highlands representative for reputable wine distributors Samuel Smith & Sons, provided details of the matched six wines in a very engaging and personable way.

Jeff Dudgeon at Kangaroo Valley Fine Wines & Craft Ales provided the six matched wines: Deviation Road ‘Sauvignon Blanc 2022’; Ata Rangi ‘Crimson Pinot Noir 2020’; West Cape Howe Wines ‘Book Ends Cabernet Sauvignon 2033’; Collector Wines ‘Marked Tree Red Shiraz 2019’; Catena ‘Bodega Catena Zapata Malbec 2019’; and Heggies Vineyard ‘Botrytis Riesling 2021’.

With special thanks to our sponsors ‘The Sheddies’, aka Gentlemen Who Dine, and to Keith Learn who made our mice centrepieces, which doubled as our table names.

And thank you to all who attended and enjoyed a wonderful evening with us.

Kathy and Rosie
