So, you’ve heard that Kangaroo Valley’s rock-wallabies are endangered, but you don’t know much more than that? All of your questions will be answered at the Kangaroo Valley Show on 17-18 February. The Valley’s local conservation group, The Friends of the Brush-Tailed Rock-Wallaby, will be on hand to answer all your questions about this endangered species…

- Why are they so vulnerable to foxes and stray cats and dogs?
- Why do they have those brushy tails?
- And why haven’t I ever seen a brush-tailed rock-wallaby?
Kangaroo Valley residents involved in The Friends of the Brush-Tailed Rock-Wallaby will be staffing an exhibition stand and delivering a Tent Talk to raise awareness of the plight of the local rock-wallabies. They will be sharing some success stories on how their efforts have led to an increase in the Valley’s rock-wallaby population over the past decade. And for the kids, local arts education expert Penny Craig is offering a range of fun-filled craft activities on a wallaby theme.
Rosie Connor, leader of the Rock-Wallaby Community Awareness team, explains. “Kangaroo Valley is full of people who care about the environment and wildlife. We are really looking forward to the KV Show as it’s a great opportunity to share more about these amazing animals. We are super keen to involve more volunteers and bring in some fresh ideas.”
