A busy year for Lions

The club would like to congratulate the three winners of our annual scholarship. Samson Frenay, Amity Bryant and Annabell Little can be seen here with Lorraine Mairinger receiving their scholarships and certificates at the school end of year presentation. We wish you well in your future goals.

This year we were back at the hotel for the Christmas Hamper raffle. This was our first chance to test out our new square POS device. All went well and we would like to thank the community for all your support. Congratulations to Paula on your win and your generosity in sharing the spoils with others.

The club would also like to welcome Kirsty Hambrook as a new member to the club. She has come on board to run youth activities and we look forward to supporting the group provide this valuable service.

Table Tennis kicks off again in February and we are getting a good following, so consider coming down for some fellowship.

Despite coming up against Covid-19, floods, and bushfires, 2022 has gone down as another huge year for the Lions Eye Health Program (LEHP). This is one of the foundations that your club supports.

Over the past 12 months, the 463 qualified Lions screened the eyes of 5,309 children across the country for vision impairment. Of these, 1,172 were referred to an optometrist for a follow-up. Your club also collects used spectacles and repurposes them for those that cannot afford to purchase new glasses. Rather than throw the old pair at the back of the draw consider donating them.

Until next time.

Lorraine Mairinger
