A special award

It is that time of the year when Christmas is only days away. Supplies of the Christmas cakes and puddings are available in the Red Shed, General Store and Post Office. Both the cakes and puddings are $15 each. As in previous years we also have a limited supply of the single serves that are retailing for $2 each slice. The individual slices are great for a picnic or work lunches. Get in while they last and before they run out.

Your local club is supporting the weekly table tennis in Kangaroo Valley Hall. It is on each week on Wednesday evening and runs from 3 to 5pm. It will cost you $5 and is a bit of fun. You don’t have to be an expert as there are plenty of beginners. Support a local activity and come for a chat.

On 18 November your club met for their Christmas lunch at the home of Lion Joan Bray. The BBQ was fired as well as the members, who were glad to see the end of another year. Could it be too much to hope for a normal year in 2023?

At this BBQ Lion Lorraine Mairinger was recognised with the award of a life membership. Lorraine is known to many of you and is always on hand to help. Lorraine is a long-standing member of the local club and was one of the first women to join it. She is very active within the foundations run by Lions, including being a Director of Lions NSW-ACT Save Sight and Public Health Care Foundation. David Loncasty and Jill Turnbull can be seen here awarding Lorraine with the membership. An award well-earned and in recognition of her everlasting commitment.

As you open your Christmas cards consider donating the stamps to Lions. You can send them to Lorraine. Your club will be providing the high school scholarships again this year at the school presentation day. We will publish the name of the winners in the February edition of the voice. The members of the club hope that you and your family celebrate a happy and festive Christmas where all are safe for an exciting 2023.

Jill Turnbull
