Stamps to mobilise children

As you may know your local Lions Club collects stamps and send them to the Lions Stamp Club for sorting and sale. In the last 12 months the stamp club handed over $60,000, this year donating the money to the Australian Lions Children Mobility Foundation. In total $320,000 has been donated to this foundation from stamp sales.  Kangaroo Valley in the past has benefited from this foundation for one of our own.

The foundation empowers children who cannot walk unassisted to reach their potential. They do this by facilitating the funding of walking and other mobility aids that get kids out of their wheelchairs and onto their feet, so they can walk, explore, play, work and socialise. This makes them stronger and healthier physically, emotionally, and mentally. Your stamps are always welcome, and every stamp helps.

Your local club continues to support the table tennis at the KV Hall. This is held every Wednesday from 3 to 5pm. Come and join in and have a few laughs. You do not have to be an expert, but usually Dave Gazzard and Ron Bower are around to help. Kerrie Leishman worked hard to get this established, so it would be good that we continue to support it.

The club closes the month of August with a District Governor’s visit and meal at Jing Jo. It is great that things are getting back to some sort of normality, and we are looking forward to more nights together socialising.

Until next time,

Lorraine Mairinger
