Kangaroo Valley Voice

Preschool News

We celebrated NAIDOC Week when we returned to preschool for term three.

We know and acknowledge that the First Nations People were the first people to live in this country and have lived here for thousands of years.

The children were invited to paint a copy of the Aboriginal flag. They had to look closely at the flag to work out where to place each colour on their page.

We talked about what each of the colours of the flag represents: black represents the Aboriginal People of Australia; red represents the red earth and the spiritual connection the people have with the land; and yellow represents the sun, the giver of life.

We danced to one of our favourite songs, Red, Black & Yellow by Wendy Notley. Happy belated NAIDOC Week to all.

The preschool would like to thank the Kangaroo Valley community for its continuing support.

Thank you to Nat Harker and her team of volunteers for organising the ‘Rock and Roll Community Dance’. A great night was enjoyed, boosting positivity and providing fun after so many difficulties have beset the local community. The preschool very much appreciates the $2,000 donation from the proceeds of this event.

Congratulations to B. Sladen, the lucky winner of the Preschool Firewood Raffle! Thank you Brad Hawthorne for donating the firewood and organising this fund raiser.
