Happy retirement Darren Griffin!

The greenest thumb of Kangaroo Valley

Darren Griffin started working at The Village Green Nursery when he bought into the nursery with Jo Keane in 1994.  Back then the nursery was just a little garden centre tucked in beside the General Store.

Every garden enthusiast knew Darren. Not only is he highly knowledgeable about gardening and horticulture; he is the larrikin we all love!

Darren has been giving gardening advice and selling quality plants to the Kangaroo Valley community, as well as visitors to the Valley, for the last 28 years. All through those memorable years, Darren had hardly taken a day off; except for holidays of course.

I became Darren’s business partner in 2007 when Jo Keene retired. By then, the nursery had relocated to a larger and more spacious venue between the Friendly Inn pub and the local car parking lot. We have enjoyed a successful business partnership throughout those years.

To me, Darren has been the best possible business partner ever. The naturally caring and kind person that he is, Darren is always easy to discuss problems or ideas with, and is always cheerful – ready for a chat or a cheeky joke! We have worked in harmony so well together.

His humour, knowledge and advice will be so missed. I wish him all the very best. Happy retirement Darren!
