The trend continues for the months of June and July, at the Kangaroo Valley Golf Club, with competition days being washed out or the course closed, due to the wet weather. Over the four possible competition Saturdays available to the members to play, two of them have been washed out.
Saturday 25 June was the club’s stroke round, before all the rain came. Congratulations to Gordon Thomson with a fantastic round 67, ten less strokes ahead of second place Allan Harvey on 77 and Ron Bower on 78. An outstanding round Gordon, one to remember.
Saturday 16 July was to be our Stableford round, but unfortunately insufficient members played, so no competition was registered.
It has been a rough year so far, for the members and the resort course, with many competition Saturdays lost due to the wet weather damage to the course. The green-keeper, Russell, and his team have been doing a wonderful job, getting the course back online as quickly as possible for the members and the visitors to the resort. With the course still very wet in some locations, the greens have recovered wonderfully. Work on the club house is still underway, and the bunker work is on hold until the weather fines up.
Happy golfing everyone! Stay safe and until next time…
And congratulations to Cameron Smith winning the 150th British Open Championship with a spectacular last round.
