Recently your club had their annual Changeover. The changeover lunch was held at the General Café and as expected they did a great job. Changeovers are a time for us to reflect on what we have done over the past year.
Your club has made several donations to Lions Foundations this year which provided support to the relevant causes. Locally, we have made contributions to the pump track seating and picnic settings. Your club has also assisted in securing the Fire Fighting Trailers and shelters to house them. The club would like to acknowledge the support of the Budgong Community Group and Councillor Greg Watson. The club has also worked closely with the Shoalhaven City Council in the delivery of these projects.
We have certainly seen some extraordinary times, and have donated to help the flood relief program that is being administered by the Australian Lions Foundation. Now that the COVID restrictions are almost fully lifted we hope that we can get back to some normal activities in the not-too-distant future.
Tracey Basman continues to do a magnificent job managing the medical centre. At the changeover lunch Marjorie Wilkie and Rob Griffiths were acknowledged for their contributions with the Harry Hession Award from the NSW Save Sight & Public Health Care Foundation. Our new president, David Loncasty, was awarded the President’s Appreciation Award. The Lions Spinal Cord Fellowship – Franz Mairinger OAM Award was bestowed on Tracey Basman and Joan Bray. Gayle Harvey, who was not in attendance, was recognised by the club with the John Morgan Memorial Shield for Service. Our Lion of the Year was announced as Jill Turnbull, who is our long-standing Treasurer and has continued her service in what has been a hard year for her.
