Preschool News

Paul Hartley from Guide Dogs came to visit us at the preschool. He showed us posters of how people with different vision impairments see the world. He also showed us how people with a vision impairment can use a cane to help them move around safely. We all had a turn of one of Paul’s canes – it was tricky when we closed our eyes. One of our preschool friends has a vision impairment. She is very good at using her cane. She showed us how it is done!

Paul had a jingle bell ball and played ‘Roll the ball’ with us. The children had to close their eyes and listen for the bells jingling in the ball as it rolled towards them, then catch it. Lots of fun.

‘This is me’. The children were given hand mirrors so that they could look closely at themselves, then they were invited to draw a self-portrait. The drawings were all so original and had many interesting details. Fingers, shoes, hair and even muscles and organs were represented. There were drawings of how they look when dressed up as a vampire! Creativity abounds at KV preschool.
