Kangaroo Valley Golf Club

Golf

From the start of the month of May, Kangaroo Valley Golf Club has not had a Saturday competition played for the last seven weeks, with the course being closed, or limited holes open, due to the wet weather.

Our first competitive round was on 7 May, a Stableford round, with a small number for members competing. Allan Harvey won with 30 points, followed by Jordan Molley, a visitor from Long Reef GC, with 29 points, followed by Gordon Thomson with 28 points. The course was still very wet on many fairways, making the round of golf very difficult for all.

Saturday 14 May was to be a Par round, but the weather closed in, and the competition round was cancelled.

Saturday 21 May was no different and the competition round was cancelled again. On Saturday 28 May, with some good weather for a change, it was our stroke and Monthly Medal round. Congratulations to Charles Tarbey, winning with 74, followed by Gordon Thomson with 76 and Ron Bower with 77.

Saturday 4 June saw a Stableford round, with a small number of members competing. Allan Harvey won with 35 points, followed by Charles Tarbey with 31 points, followed by Malcolm French, a visitor from Russell Vale GC, with 31 points.

On the June long weekend, Saturday the 11th was a Stableford event and our ‘John Rose Memorial Trophy’ competition, with a great number of members competing. Congratulations to Dave Purll, winning the Trophy with 35 points, and Chris Gane, winning the Stableford round with 39 points followed by Allan Harvey with 33 points.

Sunday the 12th was a Stableford event, with a good number of members competing again. Congratulations to Mark Grant, winning with 32 points, followed by Tereyne Grant with 31 points, followed by Danial Murry with 30 points.

Monday the 13th was another Stableford event. Congratulations to Mark Grant again, winning with 32 points, followed by David Purll with 31 points ,followed by Suzie Wright with 28 points .

The club also ran the Best of Two round for the long weekend, and congratulations to Chris Gane with 67 points followed by David Purll with 66 points.

With the sun continuing to shine, the course has been improving every week. On Saturday 18 June our Par round was won by Chris Yates with 0, followed by Gordon Thomson with -2, followed by Aidan Carleton with -3.

Happy golfing everyone, stay safe and until next time,

“A hole in one is amazing when you think of the different universes this white mass of molecules has to pass through on its way to the hole” [Mac O’Grady].
