KV Bonfire Night June Sat 11th

Cozy up in Kangaroo Valley on the June long weekend

Add some spark to your winter long weekend at a family-friendly fireworks extravaganza in Kangaroo
Valley.

Bonfire Night returns to light up the region’s best beer garden at The Friendly Inn this June long weekend.
With live music, food and fireworks on offer, it’s a fun night out for friends and family.

Nothing says winter quite like mulled wine by a friendly fire. Local caterer The Valley Table will run a pop-
up soup restaurant, complete with delicious desserts. There’s something for the kids, too, with hot
chocolate to warm little hands as well as the Friendly Inn’s popular bistro. The Bomaderry Tigers have the
BBQ tongs this year, raising funds for our local AFL club.

After a two-year hiatus, this year the beloved event is bigger than ever, including fire sculptures by local
artists.

“Everyone has that nostalgia for cracker night,” owner Peter Thompson says. “This event has the most
wonderful community feel. It’s such a good wholesome thing to do. Everyone comes together: families with
their kids, locals and tourists who drive into town.”

Running since 2013, the event is a favourite on the local calendar, with hundreds expected to turn out.
With easy access to Kangaroo Valley restored from the Nowra end of Moss Vale Road, there’s no better
time to take the trip and enjoy a magical winter night out.

Make a weekend of it and earn your evening drink with a day out on the river canoeing or kayaking, or
wildlife spotting on one of the Valley’s many bushwalking trials. Book a luxurious cottage or hotel room, or
cosy up in a sleeping bag and camp at Glenmack Park or Holiday Haven. Bargain $6 camping is available at
Bendeela Recreation Area on the banks of the Kangaroo River.

Live music kicks off in the late afternoon, with the pile lit as darkness falls. Fireworks away from city lights
and crowds are always a special experience. Expect these to light up the sky from about 8.30pm, so you can
give the kids a thrill before taking tired tots home to bed. Good times will continue all evening, as long as
the fire glows.
