Village pathway overcomes one hurdle

1 May 11

Well after 12 months of waiting for the RTA to approve the construction of the pathway in the vicinity of the culvert between Glenmack Caravan Park and the Chittick Farm we have been able to complete the section.

The solution was to erect a pool type safety fence along the top of the culvert header wall.

The RTA is planning to construct a safety barrier alongside the carriageway.

Once more the generosity of so many volunteers giving their time enabled us to construct the concrete path, fence footing and the safety fence with the money we had in kitty.

We want to thank all those who rolled up their sleeves, gave up their valuable time and helped once more on this valuable community project used by so many Kangaroo Valley locals and visitors.

We now are waiting on the RTA and Shoalhaven City Council to decide on a design to complete the section at Jarrett’s Lane.

Let’s hope it is not another 12 months.

It is great to see few of the locals, without being asked and at their own expense, have taken it upon themselves to maintain the Barrengarry end of the pathway.

Particular thanks should go to Bill Ayling who regularly maintains the section between Upper River and Bendeela Roads and Barry Faulks for maintaining the length from the Barrengarry Store down towards Upper River Road.

Thanks also to anybody else, including members of the KV Lions, who have worked maintaining the section as well as the area around the bike jumps.

Some people are now looking at how they can maintain the Nugent’s Creek end so if you would like to help then please let Keith Learn know or just pick a section and do it.
