Valley Volunteers hit the road again
25 Aug 09
The pathways volunteers are on the road again, working well on extending the pathway, alongside Moss Vale Road, towards Glenmack Caravan Park.
As mentioned in the July edition of the Voice a $30K funding grant was given, by Shoalhaven City Council, from their allocation of the Federal Government’s “Infrastructure Grants”.
The money has to be spent by the end of September so we are well on the way.
To enable us to complete the project in the time frame we engaged Dave Selby, not only to do the earthworks but also to set up the formwork and place the foundation material.
This is a time consuming job and it was often difficult getting the regular volunteers needed.
We poured the first section in colour for continuity at the Showground and Community Hall entrance but as it costs 30% more to add the colour we decided, with the limited funds available, that the priority should be length.
We have applied for State Government funding to enable us to continue.
All such funding is keenly sort by a wide range of local government and community groups.
If you would like to keep us working to build the pathway to Nugent Creek, then we would greatly appreciate your help through donations to Kangaroo Valley Lions Club - KV Pathways.
Cheques can be given to me, Bryan Barger, at the Post Office, or Chris Truen.
Our concrete pours are generally on Thursday and Saturday mornings.
If you are able to help us with these pour then contact me for Thursdays and Dave Selby for Saturdays.
