Firefighters are working to contain a fire burning off the Princes highway, approximately 4 kilometres north of Termeil.
The fire rapidly spread, threatening several properties south of Termeil Creek, before spotting across the Princes highway early this evening and is now burning in the Meroo National Park.
Rural Fire Service crews, along with National Parks and Wildlife Service crews, are tonight back burning in order to contain the fire.
Motorists travelling on the Princes highway, south of Ulladulla, are urged to take care when travelling through smoke, as fire fighters may be working on the roadside.
