Seniors’ accommodation in Kangaroo Valley
Now that that application has been rejected, in terms which seem designed to deter any appeal or similar application in the future, the results can be revealed.
Of those who responded to the survey, 73% thought there was a need for seniors’ accommodation in the Valley.
Of those, 94% favoured self-care, 88% low-care and 47% high-care accommodation.
The total number of units/beds thought to be needed varied from 10 to 130.
81% wanted the accommodation to be offered to existing Valley residents first.
And 75% said that they, or a relative or friend, would be interested, in due course, in occupying seniors’ accommodation if it were available in the Valley.
Fourteen respondents expressed an interest in joining a committee of community representatives to investigate the feasibility of the proposal.
On the basis of the positive survey results, I shall be contacting each of them shortly with a view to forming a committee for that purpose.
