Reduced traffic for Kangaroo Valley

The latest stage of the Main Road 92 upgrade between the Shoalhaven and the ACT will be officially opened today.

The second stage of the project, representing a 50 kilometre section of the road between Nerriga and Broulee Gap, has now been sealed.

The federal and state governments, along with Shoalhaven council, have contributed $100 million for the whole project.

Member for Kiama Matt Brown says only 20km of the road now needs to be completed.

"This road has been sealed on the western and eastern side, there is only the aspect in the middle that needs to be completed at the moment," he said.

"I've been talking to some people in Nerriga, they also see this as a great asset. It's certainly going to link inland New South Wales with the Shoalhaven."

Mr Brown says the State Government's investment into the road will be worthwhile.

"Its going to attract more tourists to our region," he said.

"It's also going to reduce costs for business. Trucking companies and the like won't have to travel as far, it should also take some heavy traffic off Moss Vale Road travelling through Kangaroo Valley."
