Progress at Kangaroo Valley Pumping and Power Station

1 Feb 11

As many of you are aware there has been a project in progress to perform the major overhaul of the main valves at the Kangaroo Valley Power Station.

The first phase of this project is now fast approaching with completion of one unit by early February.

Whilst the work on the valves will be complete they will not be reinstalled and commissioned until March.

This is due to the fact that the two units at KV operate on a common supply and in order to install the valves a station outage is required. With this being the hottest part of the year the demand for electricity is high and it is therefore it is essential to maintain the available 50% capacity of the station for this peak period.

Completion of this first stage will see the demobilisation of the team who have resided in Kangaroo Valley for the last six months. Whilst we have enjoyed our time here immensely and have been made very welcome by the local community we are looking forward to having a small break.

Many of the team are from interstate and indeed overseas so this type of project has a significant impact on family life and all the guys are very keen to return to their families. The team will be reassembled in Kangaroo Valley from around mid March to commence the second phase of the project.

Best regards
