Legendary support for trivia – no myth

For the uninitiated, coming to Trivia certainly is an amazing experience that completely knocks your socks off!

As the local ladies and gentlemen arrived in force, the extent of the effort gone to in dressing the part was legendary.

Finally taking the prize for best dressed lady and gent were Karen Harrison for her amazing green-bodied spiral-haired Medusa and Nigel Champion for his totally green Robin Hood. The best dressed table of the evening went to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Trivia ’09 took the theme of Myths and Legends and the hall was aptly decorated with amazing urns, mythical creatures and beautiful floral arrangements.

Crowded into the hall were 170 people on 19 round tables – a few even included King Arthur himself. There were some memorable ‘question protests’ ably dealt with by hosts David Reid and Courtenay Russell, a hectic scavenger quest which involved a certain amount of saucy disrobing and the evening wouldn’t have been the same without our resident Rock God’s Riffs or the green tights.

Some of the teams had decorated their tables and some had decorated themselves, but the winners didn’t need any adornment as the mythical ‘Teachers – always on holidays’ who pipped legendary ‘Camelot’ at the post to take the number one spot.

Congratulations to the KVPS teachers – We knew our children were in good hands.

The P and C would like to thank the huge generosity of the large number of local businesses and individuals who supported this legendary event who are all noted in the list of donors. Please read this and think to support their businesses when ever possible.

Special mention goes to our intrepid prize hunters who truly excelled.

Particular thanks goes to the children of KVPS for creating ‘Moolissa’ the Cow.

The competition ran hot on life-sized ‘Moolissa’ finally going to a local Upper River identity.  Mystery surrounds the lucky secret bidder who will be off to Paris in the not too distant future.

The icing on the cake was the huge amount of money raised (more than $21,000).

The majority of this will be used to stock and furnish our new library and fund the ongoing support of our special needs program.

At a time in which there are so many worthwhile causes around, we are humbled that our community continues to support us and our children with such gusto.

On behalf of Kangaroo Valley Public School, please accept our heartfelt thanks.
