Kangaroo Valley could be a "solar town"

During the election sitting Federal Member for Gilmore Joanna Gash announced that a Coalition government would provide $300,000 funding to enable Kangaroo Valley to become a ‘Solar Town.'

"Kangaroo Valley is an environmentally conscious community who have already implemented some exciting ‘green initiatives' over the years.

"It makes sense that they be given financial support to go the extra step".

"The Coalitions Direct Action Plan on the Environment and Climate Change, which we have been discussing recently, includes a Solar Towns and Solar Schools program.

"It is no secret that I have been after funding for an ‘eco village' in our community for some time and this is certainly our chance.

"Shadow Environment Minister Greg Hunt has approved the funding which will allow the Kangaroo Valley community to access direct solar energy for on-site use and return to the grid within its township.

"Community buildings will be equipped with solar panels as a direct way of lowering emissions".

"This is an exciting announcement that the community of Kangaroo Valley deserve in recognition of their work achieved to date," adds Mrs Gash.
