IPS tips in substantial donation for Kookaburra Creek

During the last five months IPS Australia has on behalf of Eraring Energy undertaken a refurbishment project of the main valves at the Kangaroo Valley Pumping and Power Station.
The work performed can at times be hazardous and therefore there is a constant focus on workplace safety.
In an attempt to keep the focus on the safety aspect of the job IPS and Eraring Energy introduced a 20 week site safety initiative.
This initiative involved a weekly cash donation being made by Eraring Energy for every week the project remained incident free.
This donation was matched by IPS Australia and its project partners Leussink Engineering and ECS.
It was decided that on conclusion of the initiative the funds raised should be donated to a local cause in recognition of how local residents and businesses had welcomed the entire team into the community for the duration of the project and on this occasion Kangaroo Valley Public School was chosen as the beneficiary.
Unfortunately the project did experience one incident on site where a team member had an accident resulting in a serious injury to his hand; however the initiative was successful in raising a total amount of $7,600.
During a brief presentation at the school in the presence of all the children and the entire project team a cheque was presented to the school principle John Bond by the IPS Project Manager Geoff Yeoman.
Also in attendance were Mark Corket station Manager at Kangaroo Valley power station along with Erich Roth managing director of, IPS Australia, Ray Leussink of Leussink Engineering and Rick Patane of ECS.
The school is planning to use the donation to kick-start the rejuvenation of an outdoor learning area for the benefit of all current and future children at the school.
Geoff Yeoman said at the presentation, “It is my hope that this initiative will raise awareness of this very worthy project and ignite some additional local interest in order that the school can complete this project”.
