Information update on the Kangaroo Valley Sewerage scheme

Work has now officially begun on the new Kangaroo Valley Sewerage Scheme.
Crews started work at the northern end of Moss Vale Road and are initially focused on laying sewer mains pipes in the public roads.
This will continue over the coming weeks although no work will occur in the main business centre of town during the busy holiday period from 15 December to 31 January.
During this time work will occur in other streets outside the village centre, and then resume in the main street from February 2012.
The installation of new tank systems on private properties will also begin in the new year. Residents will be notified when work is due to occur in their area.
Prior to construction work starting, a community information event was held at the local Community Hall.
Hosted by AJ Lucas, Shoalhaven Water and GHD, the event provided an opportunity for residents to see information posters, drawings and maps of the scheme.
Members of the project team were on hand to answer questions and fact sheets were available for people to take away.
AJ Lucas Project Director Alan Massoud said the event was a great opportunity for residents to come along, ask direct questions and find out more about the project.
“We had a number of people who had very specific questions they wanted to ask us,” he said. “Others wanted clarification on some issues and some just wanted more general updates on the scheme.
“The event also gave us, as the principal contractor for the project, a useful understanding of the issues people want address.”

They cover a range of issues including environmental management, the new water reclamation facility, and how the team will work on private properties.
