Burnt hubby Lee Henderson used in Jackie O show - news.com.au

The husband of breakfast radio star Jackie O has suffered burns to his arms and legs in a petrol-fuelled accident during a burn-off at their weekend retreat.

The injuries suffered by Lee Henderson became part of the show for the 2DayFM host with both Jackie and her husband talking about the incident on air yesterday.

Gruesome photographs of Henderson's injuries were even put on the station's website before being quickly taken down without explanation a few hours later.

Jackie told listeners yesterday her husband had been flown from their property in Kangaroo Valley on the South Coast to Sydney's Concord Hospital after the accident about 3.30pm on Saturday.

The couple bought the property in February 2005 and spend most weekends there.

"He's in hospital, we've had a bit of a weekend," Jackie said during her regular morning breakfast slot alongside Kyle Sandilands.

"I stayed in Sydney because I've got my mum in town and he (Henderson) went out to the farm.

"He was burning off and got caught in the middle of a petrol fire and he was burnt so he was taken to hospital and he's in there now.

"He should be all right. His arms are bad. He was wearing some protective clothing, actually, which has saved a lot of his body so that's good but his face and arms were burnt.

"It could've been much worse."

Soon after Henderson was himself on air to discuss the accident.

He played down his injuries when he was interviewed on the breakfast show and said his face looked like a very bad sunburn.

"It looks a lot worse," said Henderson, who was with his sister Kelly on the property when the burn-off went wrong.

"It happened and after the initial running around the paddock with your hair on fire and Kelly trying to put me out, we jumped in the creek and thought it wasn't too bad.

"It's when they said, 'Where can we land the chopper?' that I went, 'Oh my god', but honestly it's not bad at all. I'll be fine.

"It was just pure stupidity and the irony is I'd just spent I reckon a good five or 10 minutes lecturing Kelly on the issues of safety surrounding burning off."

Last night, Jackie O said her husband was at home and recovering well from his burns.

"It feels like it has been blown out of proportion too much," she said from her home. "He is fine and he is recovering well. The burns are not that severe and he is doing fine in his recovery."

A Rural Fire Service spokesman said fire officers were not called to the property and that burning was allowed in the area.
