Trek for Timor 2011
24 Sep 2011
The second Kangaroo Valley-Remexio Partnership TREK FOR TIMOR is getting closer – Saturday, September 24
There’s plenty of opportunity for people to get involved.
Do you want to walk?
Gather some mates for either the 14km or 50km team
Log onto the website (www.kvrp.org.au) and sign yourself on.
There are tips on the website for training and preparation – everything you need to know.
If you’d like a less energetic role, you can lend a hand by volunteering.
There are lots of different things that need to be done prior to the day or on the day.
To help, contact Janet Bundey via the website.
Volunteers in 2009 had a great time.
Volunteer Laura Eringa said "I had a fabulous time meeting and working with the inspirational and dedicated TREK FOR TIMOR team.
The organisation and planning made it great experience for all concerned, participants and volunteers.
You really felt you were making a worthwhile contribution to a truly worthy cause."
Sue Prescott and her daughter Gwynne volunteered by camping out on the banks of Yarrunga Creek, a remote site where trekkers had to cross the creek. "We didn't have to do anything...we just camped out in the beautiful bush and had a good time” said Sue “I’ll have that job next time!”
Louise and Peter Morgan ran the welcome party at the end of Griffins Fire trail, plying trekkers and walkers with food, drink, welcome songs and general good cheer. Louise said that "We volunteered for a few hours time slot but ended up staying all day and into the evening because it was so much fun.
Witnessing the participants enjoying the Trek, chatting with new people and enjoying the company of other volunteers was a lovely way to spend time over that weekend - looking forward to doing it again."
Finally, John Georges said "Trek day was the culmination of wonderful efforts by so many.
It was great sitting back and watching it all happen."
It was a beautiful event first time around and promises to be the same this time, so come and join us as a trekker or a volunteer.
Thanks.
