The Friendly Inn up for auction
18 Aug 2011
It would appear there has been a reasonable level of interest by several prospective buyers in the property, which has undergone several changes in ownership and management in recent years.
Built in 1892, the hotel sits on a 3.5 acres site in the commercial centre of the village the two story structure was recently partly renovated by an interim owner/manager, Mr Bryan Rutter, who was removed in a tense set of circumstances, which still sees him in court seeking redress from the the mortgagors in possession.
The Voice understands that efforts are afoot to establish a syndicate of “local investors”, keen on seeing the redemption and expansion of The Friendly Inn hotel to its days of previous glory as a focal point of so many of the Valley’s social occasions and a facility for local groups to utilise as a central meeting place.
