Purple Ribbon Month

National Child protection week is celebrated from the 5th September to the 11th September in 2010. This year's theme is: "When we know 33,000 children are abused each year, it's everyone's business".
The Shoalhaven Purple Ribbon project team, made up of a number of community services aims to "break the silence surrounding child abuse". It is celebrated in September to coincide with National Child Protection Week.
This year the Purple ribbon team are supporting the following activities:-
- A "Families Connect" morning tea will be held at 10am on Tuesday the 7th September at Nowra Church of Christ (Corner Illaroo Rd and Yurunga Dr North Nowra) where families are invited to come and celebrate and hear from Nessie Barrett, a local Social worker.
- A healing Service will be held at Nowra Church of Christ (Corner Illaroo Rd and Yurunga Dr North Nowra) at 2pm - 3pm on Sunday the 19th September.
- Links House (Sexual assault service) in partnership with Nowra Youth Service and the Purple Ribbon team will be unveiling a special artwork produced by the Nowra Youth Centreon Wednesday 29th September 2010. The mural will be placed on the Eastern wall of Links House. Visitors on the day will be invited to add their own special touch to the mural. It will be very visible and comment on Sexual Violence and foster Respect in our Community.
Ribbons and boxes will also be distributed to various community services, children's services and at Council.
