Night Under the Stars” - Shoalhaven Amateur Astronomers
09 Oct 2009
On Friday 9th October at 7PM, the National Parks and Wildlife Service will be holding a "Night Under the Stars" in conjunction with a group of the Shoalhaven Amateur Astronomers. This will be held at the Kangaroo Valley Showground as part of the NPWS School Holiday programme.
In addition to gazing through a number of different telescopes we will be giving a laser-guided Sky Tour and one of our friends of Aboriginal heritage will be explaining some of the local heavenly mythology.
All are welcome and admission is free but a gold coin donation to the astronomy club would be appreciated. Come along and look at Jupiter , the Moon and some of the treasures of the Southern Sky!
If you do bring a torch please try and wrap the light in red cellophane, this helps us with our night vision. Please do not bring a laser pointer under any circumstance.
P.S. If anyone has a telescope which they would like to get to know better, bring it along for some advice or instruction. Check the NPWS website for details.
