Correctional Centre unlocks its doors for Open Days

20 Nov 2010 - 28 Nov 2010

The brand new South Coast Correctional centre will throw open its normally heavily secured doors to the public on the weekends of 20th and 21d of November and 27th and 28th of November 2010.

The centre is located South of Nowra and is the newest correctional facility in New South Wales. It will house up to 600 male and female inmates once operational.

The upcoming open weekends will be an opportunity for interested members of the public to visit the facility and meet and talk with staff to gain an understanding of the nature, purpose and operations of the centre.

Offsite parking and shuttle bus is provided free of charge.

You will be invited to make a gold coin donation on arrival at the centre with all proceeds going to the Shoalhaven Hospital Linear Accelerator Fund.

Guided tours will take you through the centre and all of its areas. Staff members will be on hand to answer any questions you might have about the functions of the correctional centre. Children accompanied by adults are welcome and food and drinks will be available for purchase.

General Manager of the South Coast Correctional Centre, David White says “This is a unique opportunity for the community to gain an understanding of the new centre and its operations.
