September 2010 - Kangaroo Valley Amateur Fishing Club
The Kangaroo Valley Amateur Fishing Club held its Annual General Meeting at the Friendly Inn, Kangaroo Valley on 3 August 2010.
The following members were elected to the Executive Committee: Gavin Fox (President), Harold Sharman (Vice President), Mark Collins (Secretary/Treasurer), John Rebbeck (Weigh master) with fund raising responsibilities to Vinnie Winch, John Smart and John Rebbeck.
The fund raising team do a great job and run a meat raffle on Thursday nights at the Friendly Inn Hotel at around 6.30pm.
We appreciate the assistance the Hotel provides, particularly the donation of the meat.
Other matters agreed upon were: to retain the annual membership fee at $40 ($5 for Juniors), to again provide $200 sponsorship for the Iron Man event at the KV Annual Show, to set the fee for safari weekends at $150 with a $50 allowance for those who bring boats.
Safety at sea was also discussed and it was agreed that the club contribute to the fitting of Eperbs in all boats used on outside fishing trips.
Safaris have been arranged for 10-11 September at Bendalong, 3-4 December at Greenwell Point, three units have been booked at Coral Tree Lodge and numbers are limited to 13, you need to get in early for this one, a mid week safari 18-19 January 2011 at Beehive Point, and 14-21 March 2011 at Bermagui
The Safari at Bendalong is where we contest the “Jack Sharkie Shield”.
We lost the Shield last year and the picture shows Mark Collins with the sort of fish we need to catch to win it back.
