October 2011 - Kangaroo Valley Golf Club
Well at last some fine weather with the arrival of Spring and although we needed to play preferred lies on the fairways and be careful where we took the carts, the course was in very good shape on Saturday 27 August for the Medal round.
It was won by that “very reserved, quietly spoken guy” Norris Ingrisch with a Nett score of 70 and the only player on the day to beat his handicap.
Second was Sheila Young with a nett 72 and Robert Townsend finish third with a Nett 73. Saturday 3rd September was won by George Coote with 38 points, Wal Edwards was second scoring 37 points and Peter Hughes finished third with 36.
Saturday 10 September was a dreaded Par round and was won by a visitor Dan Costello with a score of +2.
Peter Dumbrell finished second with +1 and Bill Clemens was third, on a countback, finishing square with the card.
The following week the Stableford Competition was played on the Sunday, 18th September, as the Resort had so many visitors all the carts had been booked by them weeks before.
It was an excellent spring day drawing a good number of players for the competition
It was won by Mike Hinton with an excellent 42 points. Ray Michelsons was not far behind, in second place scoring 41 points and Steve Atkins good score of 38 points could only manage third spot
Mid September also heralded the modified handicapping system and although shouldn’t affect the low handicappers, most players should see a reduction in their handicaps.
Until next time Seventy Plus
