February 2011 - Kangaroo Valley Golf Club

I trust you everyone had a happy Christmas and I wish you all a great 2011.

Despite the rain we have been able to play our regular competitions each Saturday.

It wasn’t always easy with damp grips, the heavy atmosphere reducing the distance we normally expect with each club and the roll, once the ball hit the ground, being drastically decreased.

c12This however did not dampen our spirits for what could be better than a round of golf, with a great group of friend on our beautiful golf course, regardless of the weather.

There were still some good scores on the various days.

On 5 December John Innes won the day with an amazing +10, second was Sheila Young +8 and third was Norris Ingrisch +3.

The 19 December event was won by Mike Hinton with 38 points, second was Tim Cheal from the Twin Creeks Club with 35 on a count back from Sheila Young.

Mike Hinton was again the winner on 2 January with 43 points, Ruth Riethmuller was second with 39 and Steve Atkins third with 38 points.

The scores were still good on 5 January with Gordon Thomson taking first prize with 42 points, Robbie McDonnell was second with 39 and Ray Michelsons finished third with 36.

On Saturday 8 January John Innes was back in form winning with 38 points, Sheila Young was second with 38 points and it was great to see David Golovosky back on deck and finishing third with 37.15

January 12 was again a Par competition. Gordon Thomson again had a good round winning the day with a +4 and Ron Bower was second beating John Rose on a countback with good rounds, both scoring +3
The Committee has decided to hold a few more social activities this year and we will be having a BBQ lunch on Saturday 29 January after the morning round.

  Until next time Seventy Plus
