August 2010 - Kangaroo Valley Men's Triples

The Valley club is currently enjoying the ‘Men's Triples' competition with all players enjoying having the extra third bowl instead of the usual two used in the ‘Fours'.

Last week Adam Rigney's team made up of Neil Breeze and Lance Brown, had the opportunity to make it a clean sweep of all events for Adam as he has won this year's Singles, Pairs and Fours.

sr5The team came face to face with Col Good, Ken Chittick and Ron Burcher.  Col's team showed consistent form throughout the day and never let their opposition in to take control. Adam's history making attempt came to an abrupt halt with Col's joy boys winning comfortably.

Last Saturday the semi-finals of the triples had Col Good, Ken Chittick and Ron Burcher against an also in form Nathaniel Cuzner, Darryl Goodger and Ken Crocker.

In the previous week Ken Crocker dominated over Ron Burcher in the singles after a close tussle so they were head to head yet again as leads for their respective teams. Nathaniel's lads quickly skipped to a generous lead as they scored a demoralising six pointer on the third end. This gap was to be maintained until the very end with a final score of 14 - 21 to take Nathaniel's and his mates the final.

The final will be played on August 14 against Phil Chittick, Bob Holdaway and Harold Sharman and there are no favourites.

The Champion of Champions event was also held on the weekend at Bomaderry where Singles winners of each club competed - best of the best!  Kangaroo Valley's Adam Rigney, our champion, represented the club still in great form. Adam won through to the semi finals but after a courageous effort was defeated by Nowra's Pat Duke (31-19) who steps into the final.

Next week the Champion of Champions Pairs event will be played at Bomaderry and Adam Rigney will get another chance with his in form partner Nathan Jones - good luck!
