April 2011 - Kangaroo Valley Amateur Fishing Club
The Kangaroo Valley Amateur Fishing Club held its March Safari at Bermagui with eleven members attending.
The weather only allowed outside fishing on Saturday and even then it rained most of the time and increasing winds made it rough going in the afternoon.
There were four boats out on Saturday with two staying out for about three hours.
The crews came in wet and cold with a few flathead.
Nick had forgotten his raincoat and the other crewmembers, John and Chuck, didn’t object to coming in for a hot shower and coffee.
Rex Hunt and Harold returned only after the wind came up and conditions turned nasty, Rex admitted later in the day that the big seas which had started to roll in were a bit of a worry on the way in.
The young guns, Anthony, Mark and Ben accompanied by Greg had more determination and returned with a great catch of assorted fish.
Thanks to Mark, Nick, Harold and John for maintaining the boats in excellent and safe condition.
Our next safari has not been finalised but the possibility of bass fishing in fresh water in May is being considered.
Details will be provided in the next issue.
Remember we have Club Shirts, $20, Caps $10 and badges $5 on sale.
