Church of the Good Shepherd

It’s been a month of both welcomes and farewells at the Church of the Good Shepherd.

The funeral of Noel Ross, father of Lindy Ross, was held on Friday August 6.

Lindy and other members of the Ross family gave touching accounts of the special man Noel was to his family and the community.

With a mix of sadness and joy we also bid farewell to the Campbell family.

Bruce and Rebekah and their children Hamish and Eliza are moving to Melbourne for Bruce’s work. We will miss them very much.

Rebekah will also be missed dearly by the kids from Crossroads.

Rebekah became a Christian as an adult and has since had a deep passion to share the goodnews of Jesus with children.

She has a wonderful relationship with kids past and present from our Monday kids group for years 5-6 and the kids have experienced Jesus’s love in her care.

We’ve welcomed new people into our church too and also new babies!

Corinne (Coco for short) Paterson was born to Andrew and Cecily on August 1st.

The Patersons would like to thank both the church family and also those in the KV community for their incredible generosity and kindness.

Finally - we’re gradually making improvements around the church site.

We’ve put a large sailcloth shade in our kids play area for their protection in summer; put comfy seats and lounge area in our hall; and we’ve just added a wide front pathway, entry road and car park area.

We’ll be putting a cottage garden in soon.

We’ve done these things to make our church a more pleasant place for you to visit and enjoy!

Special thanks to Dave Selby, Dave Lucas, Warwick Sharman, Russell and the rest of the team for the fantastic job they’ve done in creating our new entry road, car park and pathway.

Please come and visit us one Sunday to hear what Jesus has done for you – you are always welcome!

News from St Joseph's:

Spring is not far away and preparations are in hand for our children's First Holy Communion.

Ella and Chelsea Pernice and Samuel Chittick are looking forward to this important occasion. Some couples are also preparing for their Marriage.

We congratulate Mrs Eileen Hughes on her 80th birthday.

Some parishioners joined family and friends for the occasion at the Moss Vale RSL Club recently.

Weekday Mass has been restricted to Tuesday 8 am, Wednesday 6-15 am and Thursday 8 am until further notice.

We welcome Fr George Condukala to the parish as an assistant priest.

He was born in Kerala in India, and has worked as a missionary among the tribal peoples near the border of Burma.

We continue to reflect each Sunday on the Gospel of St Luke, and were helped recently to reflect on the struggle it can be for us to remain in communion with God by a verse by U.S. poet Denise Levertov:

‘I had grasped God's garment in the void

but my hand slipped on the rich silk of it.

The ‘everlasting arms' my sister loved to remember

must have upheld my leaden weight

from falling, even so,

for though I claw at empty air

and feel nothing, no embrace,

I have not plummeted’.

Peace - Father Ronan
